Two people have been arrested after an incident in western Georgia where a gun was discharged.

According to local information, the Georgian Dream activists were celebrating the victory of their majoritarian candidate in the repeat vote of the local self-government elections, when one of the men, who was drunk, fired a gun.

Police arrested the man who discharged the weapon as well as a second person who was with him at the time. Both men were taken to the local police station and questioned.

The alleged shooter has been accused of violating Article 236 and 239 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which relates to illegally purchasing and carrying guns and hooliganism. The second person faces administrative charges after allegedly violating Article 173 and 166 of the Criminal Code, which foresees resisting police and minor hooliganism.
