The World Bank is assisting Georgia raise awareness of the modified e-procurement system and seek opportunities for future cooperation.
To do this, a three-day workshop titled "Using Georgian E-Government Procurement System under the World Bank financed projects,” opened in Tbilisi today.
The workshop, organised by the World Bank, aimed to build the capacity of the local private sector, as well as implementing agencies to use a modified e-procurement system under World Bank financed projects.
The World Bank has been closely working with the Georgian Government for the past several years to build the procurement capacity and to streamline the Government’s procurement process.
In 2012 the Bank team approved the e-procurement system of Georgia to be used under the Bank's projects. This system is currently being used under the Bank financed projects for procurement of simple goods with an estimated value US $100,000 or less.
"Following finalisation of the assessment, the State Procurement Agency recently completed the modification of e-procurement system with its own resources,” said World Bank procurement specialist Sandro Nozadze.
Those attending the workshop include representatives of Georgian construction companies, procurement specialists and project managers from different project implementation units.
Specialists from the Roads Department, Municipal Development Fund, Tbilisi City Hall, Georgian State Electro System, National Examinations Center, National Statistics Office, Parliament of Georgia, as well as partners from the international finance institutions are also participating in this event.
