Voting got off to a rocky start in western Georgia after voters vandalized a polling station in Samegrelo overnight.

Voting has come to a temporary halt after armed, masked offenders stole voting bulletins from the N16 station in Doshake village late last night, said Central Election Commission (CEC) speaker Eka Azarashvili.

Police are investigating the case. The undamaged bulletins were found near the site this morning.

It was initially decided the polling station would be closed however head of the Local Election Commission made a decision to open the vandalized station. Voting is now taking place smoothly at the polling station.
