The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia confirmed a Russian helicopter did not violate Georgian airspace.

The Ministry had to double check with the local government unit following reports a Russian helicopter unlawfully entered Georgian controlled airspace near the breakaway region.

"A helicopter was noticed near the occupation line but it did not violate airspace controlled by Georgia,” said Government officials at the Ministry's Analytical Department.

Earlier today local inhabitants of Mereti village, near the occupation line, said a military helicopter flew over them from the direction of Tskhinvali and soon turned back. They said this fact was common and there were occasions when Russian helicopters flew deeper into Georgia territory over nearby villages.
