Georgian President is invited to Iran

Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili has been invited to Iran for an official visit.

Margvelashvili met with the Iranian Ambassador to Georgia, Abbas Talebifar earlier today. The diplomat invited him to Iran on behalf of the Iranian President.

It was emphasized the Georgian President’s visit to Iran would be of "special importance” as the countries looked to deepen cooperation in a range of sectors.

The two sides discussed the current relationship of Georgia and Iran. Both expressed their desire to deepen cooperation in the economic and political directions.

Margvelashvili and Talebifar drew attention to Georgia’s geo-economic role in the region and discussed regional security issues.
