Georgian veterans who unselfishly served their country have become subject of special attention in Georgia.
A state department advocating for Georgian veterans were gifted a new building yesterday.
The State Office of Veterans Affairs was created at the beginning of this year with the aim of offering support to local veterans. The Office is an Government-led body and is headed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
"This act of giving a new building to our office is a sign of the state’s strong support to veterans,” said the Office’s head Giorgi Peradze.
He proposed to establish an Officers Club, which would organise permanent meetings with different groups of veterans.
Peradze said there were also plans to collaborate with international veterans’ associations.
The Veterans Office are in the process of establishing a National Veterans Day. The Office will soon present their idea to the Government. Peradze said the Office were currently conducting public polls to gain public opinion on a suitable date.
