Venice Commission President visits Georgia

A delegation of Italian leaders face a busy few days in Georgia, filled with meetings with Government officials.

Venice Commission President Gianni Buquicchio and Commission Secretary Thomas Markert arrived in Georgia today to begin a two-day official visit.

During the visit, guests will meet Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili and Deputy Justice Ministers Aleksandre Baramidze and Gocha Lortkipanidze in the Public Service Hall.

Meetings will also be held with the Parliamentry Vice-Speaker Zurab Abashidze and head of Parliamentary Minority David Bakradze.

Members of Parliament Eka Beselia and Vakhtang Khmaladze, Ombudsman Ucha Nanuashvili, Pikria Chikhradze of the New Rights party and experts Avtandil Demetrashvili, Joni Khecuriani and Kakha Kakhishvili are also believed to meet the international guests.

The Venice Commission representatives will also visit the United National Movement (UNM) office and the Government Chancellery, where they will meet Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and President Giorgi Margvelashvili.

At the tail-end of their visit, members of the inter-fractional group who are working on election issues, are set to meet the European officials at Courtyard Marriot.
