A Georgian rugby player has been selected as one of the world’s top rugby union players and invited to participate in a World XV team comprising of the best rugby stars from around the globe.

Georgian national team member Mamuka Gorgodze, who currently played in the top French league representing Montpellier club, was chosen to play against South Africa in the World XV on June 7.

Head coach Nick Mallett named 23 rugby players whom he hoped would take part in the upcoming match.

Mallett selected Gorgodze to take part in the sporting clash alongside world-class players from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, France, England, Ireland, Samoa and Tonga.

Mallett called up the rugby players from European clubs. He believed all of the named players were in "perfect form”.

Among second level rugby countries, Georgia was the only state who had a player named in the World XV team.

Gorgodze is the second Georgian player to be selected as a member of the prestigious team. Several years ago Georgian player Davit Zirakashvili also was named among the World XV players.
