PACE rapporteurs continue meetings in Tbilisi

Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) co-rapporteurs Michael Jensen and Boris Silevich continue meeting Georgian leaders in Tbilisi today.

This morning the pair will meet the Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II. A meeting with the Speaker of Parliament David Usupashvili is scheduled for later today.

The PACE co-rapporteurs will summarize their two-day visit in Georgia at a news conference at 7pm tonight.

Jensen of Denmark and Silevich of Latvia, arrived in Georgia on Monday and met with local authorities yesterday . Issues relating to human rights, religious minorities, repatriation of Meskhetian Turks and occupied territories were topics of their interest.

A larger PACE delegation, including Monitoring Committee members, have already met with Georgias Ombudsman Ucha Nanuashvili, State Minister for Reconcriliation and Civil Equality Paata Zakareishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Presiden Giorgi Margvelashvili, members of Parliamentary Majority, Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani, Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Sozar Subari and Chief Prosecution employees.

The PACE delegation are expected to leave Georgia this afternoon.
