Blind Dates by Georgian director Levan Koguashvili won the Special Jury Award, plus 50,000 US dollars, at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2013.

"The special jury award goes to  Blind Dates  for the gentleness, the affectionate irony, and the humor with which it portrays the loneliness and harshness of everyday life, not to mention its delicate directing. the Festivals official web-page says.

The film, about a lonely 40-year-old schoolteacher who takes up with the wife of a soon-to-be-released convict, is a compassionate tragicomedy commenting on relationships and the profound emotional responsibilities they trigger. It describes bachelorhood's quiet desperation and its constant search for true companionship.

Georgian premiere of Blind Dates, which has a budget of £650,000 ($846,000), will appear in December at the Tbilisi International Film Festival.
