"The issue of the Chief Prosecutor has been resolved as it happens in civilized countries, the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili commented on the Chief Prosecutors resignation in the late evening today.
"The process was completely transparent. I was hoped it to be transparent and we managed it as such matters are being discussed in Europe and the other countries of the civilized world.
As for the possible candidacy for the vacant post, Margvelasvhili said the issue is beyond his competence and accordingly, he is not concerned with.
The Parliamentary Speaker David Usupashvili also commented on Partskhaladzes decision.
"The reason was explained by him very clearly. As it seems, he decided that because of strict questions derived from the given situation, especially when he has to discuss cases of the high authorities which have been the members of the former government. It would be probably better when the prosecutor is more firm towards every issue, Usupashvili said.As for the opposition, United National Movement is critical towards the opponents.
Giga Bokeria, one of the UNM leaders, says Partskharladzes resignation does not discharge him from the responsibilities regarding the activities carried out by him. Namely, putting pressure on the former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili.
"The government does not have to have illusion that by replacing Partskhaladze with another Partskhaladze, nothing will be changed, Bokeria said and provided some recommendation for the government. In particular, Bokeria recommends the new government to think until they will defend a person selected with family-clan relationships and not because of professionalism.
Another UNM representative, Giorgi (Goka) Gabashvili congratulated Georgian people on the Chief Prosecutors resignation.
"Protest and firm position always makes sense and the government is forced to consider this opinion. However, the topics are not completely closed yet. We demand a full investigation for the case of kidnapping of Vano Merabishvili from his cell at the prison", Gabashvili stated.
The Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Otar Partskhaladze, who faced lingering allegations over his criminal record in Germany, resigned after 40 days in office. This marks the second resignation from the same post in the last two months in Georgia.
Partskhaladze said that he found himself obliged to respect the society who has questions about the Chief Prosecutors biography.
