Prisoner commits suicide at prison #19 in Ksani

At the Tuberculosis Treatment Center of the Ksani #19 prison, an inmate committed suicide.

According to the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance (MCLA), the inmate was suffering from severe forms of tuberculosis and was undertaking a treatment course.

"He has had normal relations with other inmates, as well as the prison administration. According to his personal case file, the inmate who was born in 1972 has been convicted for multiple times. The reason for his suicide is said to be a result of personal and family problems.

According to the conversation with his cellmates, the last time they had seen him, he was very quiet. The defendant was suffering from severe poverty and serious health conditions. The suicide was reported by his cellmate to the prison administration.

The Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance conveys its condolences to the family, - reads the statement of the MCLA released recently.

This is the second case of suicide committed by a prisoner during this week. Another inmate from the Gldani #8 Prison ended his life on December 11. The reason for his suicide was said to be a mental disorder according to the MCLA.
