The Georgian parliament will not stop functioning due to heavy snow, although blowing snow and poor visibility makes for poor highway conditions in Western regions of Georgia.
The Members of Parliament and employees of parliament are having problems crossing the Rikoti Pass on their way to Parliament in Kutaisi in the Imereti region of West Georgia.
According to the Head of Parliament Davit Usupashvili, they were planning many important events in Parliament for tomorrow.
"The weather is brutal, but we are restricted by the law. Thats why the sessions will take place in the Kutaisi Parliament building. Now we are working on how to move safely to Kutaisi. said Davit Usupashvili.
The constitution of Georgia doesnt allow convening the Parliament plenary session in an alternative location, despite the weather.
"If the highways to Kutaisi will remain blocked till tomorrow, we will charter a flight to Kutaisi. said Zurab Marakvelidze, the head of the Parliament Administration.
The vehicular traffic is still prohibited on the highways in West Georgia regions without anti-skid tire chains.
