The lawyer of the Ex-Chief Deputy Prosecutor David Chkhatarashvili, Zaza Qachibaia said his client is expected to be officially charged today. According to him, he has visited his client and provided him with personal items.
"I cannot inform you about his position towards the reasons of his arrest because he is not officially charged yet, - the lawyer told journalists today.
Chkhatarashvili is in the temporary detention ward of the so called Moduli building.
The Ex-Advisor of the Ex-PM Bidzina Ivnaishvili, Gia Khukashvili confirmed today that he has had communication with the arrested Chkhatarashvili. He confirmed that he has met several times with the Ex-Chief Deputy Prosecutor since the Parliamentary Elections.
"David Chkhatarashvili was involved in the criminal system. His role was known to everybody and I had to communicate with him in order to find out how the system worked and what the criminal system performance algorithm was, Khukhashvili said, adding that he could not find out much but it revealed interesting things.
"It is a sad reality. He has not been the systems client but a good, intelligent, servant of it", - Khukhashvili said.
Davit Chkhatarashvili was arrested on December 7 and was accused of exceeding authority, falsification of documents, abuse and torturing prisoners.
According to the investigation, in September of 2012, Davit Chkatarashvili and the former Minister of Justice ZurabAdeishvili, who is wanted by an Interpol Red Circular, abused several prisoners in Gldani Prison #8 and recorded the torturing.During that time, Chkatarashvili and the other high officials knew that the former superintendent of the Gldani Prison, VladimerBedukadze had dispersed a lot of torture footage to several journalists. Chkatarashvilis purpose was to spread false information that the investigative structures had revealed the inmates torturing fact in prison, before the opposition TV channels, Maestro and TV9 broadcast the video footage that Vladimer Bedukadze sent them. Bedukadze was in Brussels at that moment.
According to the General Prosecutions statement, the investigation will reveal the other high officials who were involved in prison abuse.
