Georgian photo-exhibition in London

A photo-exhibition called "Georgian now and then" was held in the Aristocratic Club Lansdowne in London on November 27.

The exhibition presented photos of three Georgian reporters Irakli Gedenidze, Gia Abdaladze and Zurab Kurcikidze. Theme of the event was Russian aggression in August 2008 and peaceful rally raids in November 2007 and 26 May, 2011.

Representatives of the academic and political organizations, diplomatic corps of Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, honorary members of the elite closed club Lansdowne and British MPs attended the exposition.

The exhibition was covered by British media representatives, like Financial Times, The London World, Guardian and Vision Geographic.

The audience showed great interest for the developments in Georgia and asked many questions to the organizers and photographers.

The project was implemented with the support of the Georgian Ministry of Culture and was organized by newspapers Britaneti, Iberia and British-Georgian Chamber of Commerce.

Three photo reporters were arrested in June 2011 and accused for sending materials to GRU Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia. The reporters announced they were arrested for taking photos of polices cruel actions on the raid of May 26, 2011 demonstration. However, all three soon confessed after high pressure from the previous government and were released under suspended sentence. After the new government came to power, their convictions have been withdrawn.
