Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili appointed Vano Matchavariani as his foreign policy adviser.
Matchavariani, brother of the oppositional United National Movement partys secretary general Mikheil Matchavariani, was Georgias first ambassador to Japan in 2007-2009. He also served as deputy CEO of the Partnership Fund in 2011-2012.
Matchavariani is a lecturer at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) where Margvelashvili was a rector.
