Most of the people who had been granted Georgian citizenship by former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili were Russian citizens, according to the Ministry of Justice.

Russians are followed by Greek and Israeli citizens in the rating. There are several British citizens in the list, as well.

Mikeil Saakashvili granted Georgian citizenship to 400 foreigner citizens under the simplified procedures, several days before of his stepping down.

In total, 4000 people asked the former President for the citizenship but because of the lack of time, only 400 people were granted citizenship. The rest of the documents had been sent to the proper structures for further discussion, according to Andro Barnovi, former Head of the Presidential Administration.
