Tbilisi has been named among the 2021 Best European Christmas Market destinations in a public poll held by the European Best Destination organisation, with the city to be promoted throughout the next year to travellers.

The top 20 list showcases the Georgian capital among locations such as Basel, Dresden and Edinburgh, following the results of the EBD poll that saw over 100,000 people from 121 countries cast their choices.

Sitting at No. 9 in the list, Tbilisi brings the background of being picked among the Best European Destinations and also voted one of the safest spots in Europe among the coronavirus pandemic, the profile in the ranking explains.

Tbilisi must be at the top of your wishlist for Christmas. Christmas markets are held almost in every corner of the capital city, where local entrepreneurs and start-ups sell their handicrafts, souvenirs, Christmas treats, Georgian candies, yummy street food and mulled wine," the EBD summary says.

Celebrations of the end-of-the-year festive season include theatre shows, concerts and other forms of entertainment for locals and visitors of the capital city, the Europe-wide selection notes about the Georgian destination.
