CNN travel has published an article about Georgia’s ski resorts, saying its snow-capped mountains are the country’s ‘greatest asset’, but that it is however still one of the most underrated ski destinations in the world.

Spanning 1,200 kilometres, the Caucasus Mountains cover approximately 60% of the country's surface area, making the Alps look like child's play”, reads the article.

CNN travel wrote that the reason why more people have not caught on to Georgia’s ‘magnificent’ skiing possibilities might be that “most travellers have only recently warmed up to” Georgia, and that Georgia is a five-hour flight from Western Europe and that travellers more often make their trips in summer.

Despite these challenges, CNN travel also noted some advantages of visiting Georgia’s ski resorts, such as the ‘insanely economical’ flights and ski passes, also cheap places to eat and sleep.

Further sweetening the pot are new designer lodges, off-piste experiences, and après-ski perks including fireside khinkali (soup dumplings) and gut-warming chacha (Georgian brandy)”, read the article.

CNN travel also gave recommendations for Georgia’s Gudauri, Bakuriani and Mestia ski resorts.
