A member of the Georgian rugby team has been named among the top 100 current rugby union players by UK newspaper The Telegraph.
Mamuka Gorgodze, who can play any lose-forward position in the national side, currently played in the top French professional rugby competition for Toulon, having signed with the club in 2015 after having played for Montpellier since 2005.
He has recently been injured but will be ready to challenge Russia in the March 14 European Nations Cup match, said head coach Milton Haig.
The Telegraph ranked Gorgodze 60th on the list and praised his power on the field.
"There cannot be more terrifying sights on a rugby field than "Gorgodzilla” in full flight. After nine years of destruction with Montpellier, Toulon made the giant Georgian back row their latest galactico.”
Among the list were players from all over the globe, but was heavily dominated by All Blacks - reigning world champions – with 21 players named on the list. All Black captain Richie McCaw was named number one player in the world.
The list was published on the sports section of the Telegraph online and was compiled by the Telegraph's team of rugby experts - including Austin Healey and Sir Ian McGeechan and featured other players from Scotland, Tonga, South Africa, England, France, Argentina, Australia, Wales, Fiji and Ireland.
