The Georgian capital is steeped in tradition but a new generation of artists and entrepreneurs ares offering an alternative to the old ways by opening stylish restaurants, hotels, bars and galleries.

The Guardian, one of the leading British media outlets, has published an article about Tbilisi, the place where traditions are mixed with modern trends, making the city one of the most interesting destinations to visit.

In the piece author Tara Isabella Burton, who has lived on-and-off in Tbilisi for five years, describes how the city’s "historic heart” has transformed though prices remain "remarkably low”.

"A room in a guesthouse can be as little as £15, the cost of a decent meal in a mid-range restaurant half that,” she writes.
"Unpaved alleys populated by stray dogs are now pastel boulevards leading to speakeasy-style cafes. Old-guard restaurants with a casino aesthetic are giving way to more eclectic places catering for middle-class Tbiliseli, rather than wealthy foreigners.”

The author describes some of the best places for dining, resting and having fun in Tbilisi. She describes how old and new are perfectly combined in this city.
