ENPI Info Centre: “Georgia: local government elections further step in democratic development”

The European Union are congratulating Georgia for its fair and free election held on June 15.

Its special statement was published on the EU Neighbourhood Info Centre webpage on June 18.

The statement cited improvements in Georgia’s electoral processes and an increased voting participation of women.

There must be no tolerance for violence or intimidation in the days leading up to the runoffs that are now scheduled to take place in a number of municipalities, the statement said.
