Police officers in eastern Georgia’s Marneuli Municipality have arrested one individual on charges of animal cruelty and violence following a video footage posted on social media.
In his comments Giorgi Navrozashvili, the head of the local police department, told the media the incident had occurred last month in a village of the municipality, adding witness interviews had revealed the individual’s treatment if a dog had resulted in its death.
The police official added the dog's body had not been discovered by law enforcement following the act.
Navrozashvili told reporters the alleged offender had been arrested and investigative activities were ongoing.
