Teimuraz Khomeriki, a member of the Council of the National Bank of Georgia, and representatives from the Department of Financial Education and Strategic Development, on Friday highlighted the country's efforts in spreading financial education in the country’s regions at the annual meeting of the Technical Assistance Project on Financial Education, hosted in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica.
Khomeriki emphasised the implemented activities and challenges of providing basic financial education to vulnerable groups in Georgia, while Ketevan Akhalkatsi, the Head of the Department, presented the Bank's projects and future plans.
The NBG said the meeting also featured 50 representatives from various countries, where invited experts from Belgium, Sweden, Poland, the United States, Portugal, Peru, Malaysia, and others shared their experiences, with this year's theme of the conference focused on Stakeholder Co-operation for Effective Financial Education.
Participants expressed interest in the National Bank's educational platform Finedu, for enhancing financial education among children, and its interactive educational initiatives.
The conference was organised by the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands and the International Network on Financial Education of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, developing evidence-based policies to address social, economic, and environmental challenges, promoting prosperity, equality, and well-being worldwide.
Georgia joined the OECD/INFE technical support project in 2018, with cooperation extended for an additional five years starting in 2023.
