The National Bank of Georgia and its educational platform Finedu on Tuesday launched a campaign for enhancing financial education among children, with the move coincided with the annual World Savings Day, a date aimed to raise awareness on the significance of prudent financial planning.

The NBG said Finedu “ambassadors”, employees of the Bank and its partner organisations would visit schools to conduct financial education classes with third to ninth grade students as part of the Invite Finedu to Class campaign.

It said volunteer teachers would also be able to act as Finedu ambassadors to make the campaign “even more large-scale and interesting”, with up to 6,500 students of 300 classes set to be involved in the lessons in saving.

Founded in Italy in 1924, the international date has a century-long history, with Georgia joining the activities in 2012. The financial industry has since carried out several initiatives to commemorate the occasion, the NBG added.
