Levan Davitashvili, the First Vice Prime Minister and Economy Minister of Georgia, on Friday expressed concern over recent developments in the country’s relationship with the United States, referring to them as “not so positive trends”.

This statement came in response to visual messages published on a social media page of the US Embassy in the country this week that read “democracies do not prohibit oppositions”, “countries cannot develop in isolation”, “isolation of Georgia from the West is against the interests of its people”, and more.

Davitashvili emphasised his hope for a shift in the “current tension” in the ties towards a “more constructive mode” and a “full-fledged partnership” with the US.
