Police arrest 14 on drug violations in capital, western regions of Georgia

Georgian police on Friday said law enforcement officers had arrested 14 individuals, including five foreign nationals, on drug-related charges for cases spanning over a recent period in capital Tbilisi, south-eastern region of Kvemo Kartli and western regions of Imereti, Adjara and Guria.

The release said the detained individuals had been involved in offences including illegal purchase, storage and selling of “large and especially large amounts” of drugs as well as illegal purchase, possession and selling of marijuana.

The body also said law enforcement seized 62 packs of marijuana, MDMA, Hashish, 65 packs of Alpha PVP, Methadone, heroin, Buprenorphine, Subotex and electronic scales during searches of the individuals, their vehicles and residential houses, as well as a pistol, magazines and three cartridges from one of the arrested.

The offences are punishable by 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
