Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and representatives from the United States Agency for International Development discussed the implementation of the 2019-launched Economic Security Programme, the Ministry of Economy announced on Wednesday.
Davitashvili thanked the organisation’s Economic Growth Office Director Marika Olson, Chief of Party for the Georgia Programme Mark McCord and other representatives for their contribution to the development of the country’s economy and help in overcoming challenges created by the Covid pandemic and other global events.
Projected to run to 2024, the USAID Economic Security Programme is promoted as assisting Georgian companies in taking advantage of the country’s market access and location to exploit regional economic opportunities and compete with international counterparts for the domestic market.
The programme intends to create at least 4,800 new jobs, support at least 720 small firms, increase sales of assisted enterprises by $60 million, and leverage $18 million through partnerships.
