Irakli Beraia, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's Defence and Security Committee, on Wednesday said a “growing” international pressure must be applied on Russia to end its occupation of the country’s regions.
Beraia’s comments followed an illegal transfer of territory in the Bichvinta resort town in occupied Abkhazia to Russia this week.
“The illegal decision by the Abkhaz so-called authorities to transfer Georgia’s land and assets in Bichvinta to Russia is appalling, and a continuation of annexation steps by Russian occupiers. Growing international pressure must be applied on Russia to leave. Occupation will end. Georgia’s lands and assets will never become Russian”, Beraia said in a social media message.
