The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia on Tuesday said it had revealed 25 facts of storage, transportation and sale of “large quantities” of non-excised tobacco products in November.
The body said 25,748 non-excised cigarettes of various denominations, with a total market value of more than ₾150 000 ($55,558), were seized.
It added 24 individuals were charged as part of the action, including 12 who were arrested.
The crime is punishable between six to eight years in prison.
