Georgian authorities arrested an individual for illegal storage and transportation of a “large amount” of excise-free tobacco products, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia said on Wednesday.
They also seized 54,918 boxes of different brands of non-excised tobacco from the offender’s vehicle in Tbilisi, with the total market value of the products reaching ₾241,639 ($91,889).
The Service also said it was continuing work to “identify and expose” other individuals involved in the case.
The crime is punishable by between six and eight years in prison.
