Tbilisi City Hall will launch two programmes for the renovation and replacement of dilapidated buildings in the historical districts of Georgia’s capital, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at the Government meeting on Wednesday.
Kaladze said businesses would carry out reconstruction works with consent of property owners and in line with detailed projects and budgets approved by the Municipal Development Fund.
Kaladze pledged no buildings of cultural heritage would be replaced during the work, adding the Municipal Development Fund would be involved in their renovation.
In return, municipal authorities will offer the business sector “planning solutions and specific parameters” for land in their ownership outside the historical districts. Businesses will also be able to make related payments directly to the budget and completely hand over the execution of the works to the Fund, the City Hall added.
The second programme will be aimed at property owners, who will be offered to enable the City Hall to facilitate sale or auctioning of their property after the city body assesses their real estate and provides expert evaluation to determine its value.
The property will be auctioned two months after information is published on the official platform of the City Hall, before the body offers the highest price recorded during the auction to owners and sells property with their consent.
