The opposition “sins” when it insults police force and its officers, President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili told the Georgian Parliament on Monday in reference to a protest where participants threw flour and ketchup at the law enforcers in Tbilisi.
Zourabichvili was commenting on the incident outside the Government Administration last week, and argued police should be respected as an institution with “special responsibility for the stability and security of the country”.
The Georgian President condemned the protesters’ actions by calling it a “shame” and asking for “respect and support” for law enforcement.
Members of Shame, an "anti-occupation civic movement", threw flour at police officers during their "No to Russia" rally in downtown Tbilisi on March 12.
