Georgia has stood and still stands with Ukraine and Ukrainians amid the ongoing war in the country, President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili said on Monday in her annual report to the Georgian Parliament.
Zourabichvili said the “selfless struggle” of the Ukrainian people against the Russian aggression “only evokes in us respect, solidarity and support.”
Today we are witnessing horrific scenes: hospitals, children's oncology hospitals, kindergartens and schools, even churches bombed by Russia; the evacuation of the elderly and pregnant women, the relentless struggle of Ukrainian soldiers or civilians defending their land, the President told the MPs.
Zourabichvili also said in her address Georgians had the “best understanding” of what the Ukrainian nation was experiencing amid the Russian invasion.
Ukraine and Georgia have passed the same path: the path of liberation from the Russian Empire. The history of Georgia, as well as the history of Ukraine, is a history of pride and devotion. Today, we see a miraculous determination in Ukraine, which I believe can only end in Ukraine’s victory, the President noted.
