Parliamentary cooperation and relations between Georgia and Japan were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Hosoda Hiroyuki, the speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan.
The meeting noted the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Georgia and Japan and the growing dynamics of relations in recent years, the press office of the parliament said.
Papuashvili expressed his gratitude for Japan's “strong support” for Georgia's territorial integrity, co-sponsorship of resolutions submitted by Georgia to the United Nations, and non-recognition of the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia.

The officials also reviewed Russia's aggression against Ukraine and its geopolitical and socio-economic consequences and emphasised the need to respect the fundamental principles of international law and rules-based international order.
Papuashvili and Hiroyuki discussed parliamentary cooperation and agreed to deepen ties between friendship groups and sectoral committees.
A delegation of the Georgian parliament led by Papuashvili on Monday started its working visit to Tokyo to meet Japanese counterparts and review cooperation between respective institutions.
