Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday congratulated the country’s wheelchair fencing team on their recent “great victory” at the world cup in Pisa, Italy.
Another great victory of Georgian sports - Georgian wheelchair fencing team has won two medals at the world cup. Irma Khetsuriani claimed gold and Nina Tibilashvili won bronze.I congratulate our proud athletes and wish them further success!", Garibashvili said in his social media post.
At the world cup event on Thursday, Khetsuriani claimed gold after winning the final against her Italian rival with a score 15:9, while Tibilashvili claimed bronze after defeating her Polish counterpart 15:14.
Khetsuriani, Tibilashvili and Gvantsa Zadishvili will compete in the rapier category contest on Saturday.
The Georgian women’s wheelchair fencing team earned gold and bronze medals at the world cup event in Pisa on Thursday, the fencing federation of Georgia said.
