In the final, Bekauri defeated Shamil Borchashvili, who competed on behalf of Austria, while Akhalkatsi defeated the French judoka Nicolas Chilard.
On the first competition day of the tournament, Giorgi Tutashvili (66 kg) won a bronze medal.
