One person was detained by the Special Investigation Service of Georgia on Thursday for unlawful interference with reporting work of TV Formula media outlet journalists in Tbilisi.
The Service said the channel’s reporters had been assaulted by the individual during a live broadcast on Wednesday.
The offender had forcefully taken the microphone of the channel’s journalist Rati Tsverava, threatened him with a knife, and attempted to assault a cameraman.
Investigation into the incident has been launched under the Criminal Code article concerning illegal interference with journalistic activities.
The Prosecution Service of Georgia charged a citizen identified as D.V. with unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities and persecution on Sunday.
Georgia’s Special Investigation Service has launched an investigation following an alleged physical and verbal assault on a cameraman of the opposition-minded TV Pirveli channel, the agency announced on Sunday.
One person has been arrested for physically assaulting journalists of TV Pirveli channel yesterday in the Tsalka Municipality of central Georgia. Footage released by TV Pirveli shows representative of Tsalka Municipality Giorgi Aprasidze swearing at journalists and throwing a microphone at them.
