New translations of classical, contemporary Georgian writers to be published in Europe, Asia

The Writers’ House of Georgia has chosen dozens of works of contemporary and classic Georgian writers which will be translated and published in Europe and Asia within the project ‘Georgian Literature in Translations’.

Austrian book lovers will be able to read contemporary Georgian writer Nestan-Nene Kvinikadze’s novel 38, 44.

The novel is an extraordinary summary of Georgia’s recent history.

Mikheil Javakhishvili’s novel Kvachi Kvachantiradze will be translated in French by Ginkgo Editeur/SARL TI Communication.

Javakhishvili’s first novel written in 1924, tells the story of a swindler Kvachantiradze, which takes place during Stalin’s Soviet regime.

The Law of Eternity by Nodar Dumbadze, one of the best known Soviet Georgian authors of the 20th century, will be translated for Ukrainian book lovers.

Sefsafa Publishing House (in Egypt) will translate and publish contemporary Georgian writer Dato Gorgiladze’s tale The Club of Elderly Harlots.

An anthology of Georgian writers, including Ilia Chavchavadze, Galaktion Tabidze, Ana Kalandadze, and Otar Chiladze will be translated for the poetry lovers in Turkey by V-E Publishing House.
