About 2,700 applications of foreign citizens looking to travel to Georgia and work remotely from the country have already been registered on the programme’s online platform developed specially for the purpose.
Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava said that applications were registered from neighbouring countries of Georgia as well as from European countries.
There is a very high interest from different financial organisations, from employees who have switched to a remote working regime", said Turnava.
The project focuses on freelancers and self-employed foreigners.
A citizen of a foreign country who seeks to enter Georgia long-term will have to fill out a mandatory application form and obtain preliminary confirmation required for crossing the border.
While filling out the form, individuals should provide personal information, a certificate of employment and a letter giving their consent to undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine.
So-called long-term visitors will have to go into 14-day quarantine at their own expense. On top of that, they will also need to obtain travel insurance valid for six months.
