Georgia is inviting foreign citizens to travel to Georgia, and work and run their businesses from the country remotely and enjoy its corona-free, safe environment.

Economy Minister of Georgia Natia Turnava announced today that the new project will start soon, and will encourage international citizens to work from Georgia remotely. The project will be focused on freelancers and self-employed foreigners.

Georgia has the image of an epidemiologically safe country in the world and we want to use this opportunity. We are talking about opening the border in a way to protect the health of our citizens, but, on the other hand, to bring to Georgia citizens of all countries who can work remotely", said Turnava.

A citizen of a foreign country who seeks to enter Georgia long-term will have to fill out a mandatory application form and obtain preliminary confirmation required for border crossing.

Turnava noted that an online platform for applications has already been developed.

While filling out the form, individuals should provide personal information, a certificate of employment and a letter giving their consent to undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Turnava added that so-called long-term visitors will have to go into 14-day quarantine at their own expense. On top of that, they will also need to obtain travel insurance valid for six months.
