Batumi State Maritime Academy will receive students in its Poti branch for the first time in 2021.
The Poti branch is still under construction.
The branch, equipped with the latest technology, will give over 1,000 students the opportunity to receive an international professional maritime education and find employment on both local and international labor markets,” says the ministry.
The ministry says that resuming maritime training in Poti will contribute to the development of the maritime transport-logistics sector with a skilled workforce.
The Georgian government has allocated about 6 million GEL for the construction of the academy.
The academy will be located in the former building of the Hydro-Melioration School, which is on the list of the country's cultural heritage sites of the 20th century.
