Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has stated that ‘irresponsible political parties’ are making statements to the effect that Georgia is no longer on the agenda of European countries.

This is irresponsible and a lie,” Bakhtadze said, mentioning several events and statements of recent days to contradict the accusations of the opposition parties.

He said that on March 24-25 NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg visited Georgia and made “strong messages” supporting the country and its NATO aspirations.

We are now hosting the NATO Military Committee, which is their third visit to Georgia,” Bakhtadze added.

He said that for the first time in the history of NATO, Georgia is leading the NATO-Georgia joint exercise planning and execution process.

Strong messages have also been made in Brussels this week, where the Georgian Foreign Minister has taken part in the NATO-Georgia Commission meeting. The meeting discussed ways to enhance Black Sea Security and Georgia’s role in [the process]”, Bakhtadze said.

Bakhtadze stated that two years have passed since the enactment of the “historic” EU-Georgia visa free agreement.

The EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee meeting will be held in Strasbourg today, with important messages for Georgia,” Bakhtadze said.

Bakhtadze said that he had counted only several events taking place over the past several days.

Despite [these facts], several irresponsible forces are engaged in making fake news and cheating as if Georgia is no longer in the interests of the international community,” Bakhtadze said.

He said that Georgia has never had its relations with NATO, EU and the US at such a high level.
