The Permanent Mission of Georgia to Geneva has organized the event named Human Rights Abuses and Violations in Venezuela with missions of the United States, Albania, Argentina and other countries.
The invited speakers discussed Maduro’s regime humanitarian crisis and repressions they underwent.
Georgia’s Permanent Representative Victor Dolidze stated Venezuela’s crisis hit a concerning level, having caused huge humanitarian catastrophe.
Georgia fully supports Juan Guaido’s efforts for establishment of democracy and peace… Georgia fully understands the difficulties Guaido and National Assembly are facing and shows absolute readiness for practical assistance,” Victor Dolidze said.
The concerning facts of human rights abuse including torture, illegal detention, closing independent media outlets and pressuring free political activities were discussed during the event.
Georgia’s Representative Victor Dolidze called on Maduro’s regime to stop repressions.
By the end of the event Victor Dolidze held a meeting with the Guaido interim government representative Maria-Alejandra Aristeguieta Alvarez.
Victor Dolidze stated Georgia did not recognize the results of the 2018 Venezuela parliamentary elections adding the country supports the Venezuela National Assembly.
The parties agreed on continuation of close cooperation.
