Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has stated that Georgia firmly supports the interim government of Venezuela under the leadership of Juan Guaido and says that he is sure that the political force will win its fight against Nicolas Maduro.
We stated even in 2018 that Maduro was not elected lawfully. The issue of Venezuela has become a very popular political topic these days, while Georgia took up a very principal position regarding the issue last year,” Bakhtadze said.
Georgia stands alongside #US on #Venezuela and other global security issues. I was delighted with a productive discussion on further strengthening our bilateral ties. We are glad that Georgia-US strategic partnership is at an all-time high. https://t.co/leFxgHLWer

Bakhtadze said that the misuse of power by Maduro’s government has affected the Venezuelan people.
Georgia is standing with the developed world and the Venezuelan people,” Bakhtadze said.
Bakhtadze also stated that Venezuela violated international law when it recognised the independence of two occupied regions of Georgia Abkhazia and Tskhinvali in 2009.
No political force should dare to stand in the way of international law as concern what is happening in Venezuela,” Bakhtadze said.
It has been stated that the interim government of Venezuela will revoke the recognition of the two Georgian regions if they manage to preserve power.
Last month Georgia stood with the United States to recognise the interim government of Venezuela and its opposition leader Juan Guaido from the Popular Will party, opposing the policy and re-election of Nicolas Maduro.
