A business delegation from Hong-Kong is visiting Georgia to familiarise themselves with the Georgian business environment and offer help to Georgian exporters to promote their products in Asian countries.

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Edward Yau, emphasised Hong Kong's strengths as a key business matching platform for Georgian enterprises seeking and forging strategic partnerships.

Yau said that given Georgia's prime location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe and Hong Kong's edge on various fronts including in having a deep pool of professional talents, Hong Kong and Georgia enjoy a wealth of opportunities to further strengthen connections and achieve synergy under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Hong Kong has a deep pool of world-class talent in maritime and logistics services, engineering, architecture, surveying, urban planning, accounting, law, consulting, etc, who are well versed in cross-border deals. With ample experience in planning, implementing and managing international projects, and resolving legal matters and business disputes, our professionals can certainly provide high-quality services, and contribute valuable business knowledge across regional and international boundaries to Georgia," he said.
Yau and delegation members met Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kobulia where they talked about the planned and ongoing reforms of the country which aim to result the inclusive growth of Georgian economy.

Kobulia highlighted the advantage that Georgia has thanks to the free trade deals with China, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the European Union and other countries.
I hope Hong Kong will become one of our major trade and business partner in the future”, said Kobulia.
Kobulia also placed special importance on the free trade deal between Georgia and Hong Kong that was signed back on 28 June 2018 and took effect in February 2019.
The Hong Kong delegation showed interest in Georgia’s energy, production, technologies and IT sectors.
