The average monthly salary in Georgia has increased by 61.1 GEL (about $22.80/€20.07) year-on-year and reached 1,202 GEL (about $448.51/€394.92) in the fourth quarter of 2018, show the latest data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The figures show that men earned almost 563 GEL (about $210.07/€184.97) more than women each month in Q4 of 2018.
Female workers earned an average salary of 906 GEL (about $338.06/€297.67) per month, while male workers earned 1,468.5 GEL (about $547.95/€482.48), said Geostat.
The average monthly salary for a person employed in the business sector in Q4 of 2018 was 1,318.7 GEL (about $492.97/€436.28). This was an increase of 77.2 GEL (about $28.86/€25.54) y/y.
Meanwhile, the average monthly salary for women in the business sector was 977.2 GEL (about $365.31/€323.30), which is 67.9 GEL (about $25.38/€22.46) more compared to Q4 of 2017.

The annual unemployment rate in Georgia decreased by 1.2 percentage points and equalled 12.7% in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2018.
The employment level was reduced by 0.2 percentage points in Georgia’s urban areas compared to the previous quarter, while in rural areas it decreased by 1.3 percentage points.
The unemployment rate is higher in men (by 2.6 percentage points) than in women. The unemployment rate in women decreased by 0.3 percentage points and in men increased by 0.6 percentage points.
