“Poland consistently supports the territorial integrity and European and Atlantic ambitions of Georgia”, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said today.
For Poland, the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia and of other countries of the region, which have such ambitions, is a guarantee of long-lasting stability and economic, political and social growth of our partners”, the Polish Minister said.
Minister Czaputowicz touched on his ministry's foreign policy tasks for 2019 at the Sejm, in which Poland's eastern partners, in particular Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, "remain a key area" of the country's activity.
In 2019, we will join the celebrations to mark the tenth anniversary of the Eastern Partnership. We hope that partner countries will make strong efforts this year to implement the obligations arising from association agreements and that we will have a platform for reflection on the future of the Partnership”, Minister Czaputowicz stated.
He also noted that “our strategic objective is an effective eastern policy implemented by the European Union”. “Under this policy, Poland focuses on sustaining a strong and uniform position towards Russia and on pursuing an agenda in relations with the Eastern Partnership countries that is as ambitious as possible.”

The Polish Minister also spoke of NATO’s “open door policy” and stressed that Poland is “seeking the Alliance’s support” for its eastern neighbours.
He said “we want to deepen cooperation with NATO partner countries, especially those in our immediate neighbourhood: Finland, Sweden, Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia, countries with which we share a very similar outlook on the nature of threats to international security”.
In his address Jacek Czaputowicz spoke of close bilateral relations between Georgia and Poland as well and announced that in the first half of 2019 Poland is expecting a visit of Georgia’s President Salome Zurabishvili to Warsaw.
