The Embassy of Poland will play the role of a contact point embassy between NATO and Georgia for two years until the end of 2020.
Ambassador of Poland to Georgia Mariusz Maszkiewicz has announced the project will significantly contribute strong support to Georgian integration in NATO.
“Poland has always been a faithful friend of Georgia,” said Maszkiewicz.
The embassy reports that fulfilment of the contact point embassy duties also represents an important instrument for deepening Polish-Georgian cooperation.
NATO developed a network of Contact Point Embassies (CPE) in the early 1990s aimed at supporting a partnership with the alliance and public diplomatic activities in different countries involved in the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC), Partnership for Peace (PfP), Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI).
The contact point embassy will serve as a channel for spreading information on NATO’s role and policy in general.
