The Georgia-Japan Business Forum is taking place today in Tbilisi to discuss business and risk management opportunities in Georgia, as well as Japanese support and future plans that will deepen business ties between the two countries.

Representatives of more than 100 Georgian and up to 40 Japanese companies are participating in the business forum. In addition, among the participating companies there are companies which are interested in the investment potential of Georgia including Toyota, Mitsubishi, Tepco, and Itochu.

We can offer Japanese companies one of the most favourable business and tax environments in the world, a steadily growing economy, the opportunity to use free trade agreements with the European Union, Turkey, Ukraine and other countries, as well as the opportunities offered by the Georgian government to international investors," said Nikoloz Alavidze, the Deputy Minister of Economy.

The Japanese Ambassador to Georgia, Tadaharu Uehara, noted that the number of Japanese companies participating at the business forum has increased and this is proof that Japanese companies are interested in Georgia's business opportunities.

I hope that more Japanese companies will enter the Georgian market and this will create more jobs. This will also help Georgian companies increase productivity and quality which will make them more competitive compared to  other international companies,” said Japanese Ambassador to Georgia Tadaharu Uehara.

The business forum was opened by Nikoloz Alavidze, the Deputy Minister of Economy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandre Khvtisishvili and Japanese Ambassador to Georgia Tadaharu Uehara.

Today's business forum is the fifth event attended by Georgian and Japanese companies and business circles.
